If you have hope, you have PURPOSE

This week has been WONDERFUL! The best part? Meeting with Diana 🙂 On Monday we met and she told us how she wants to be meeting every single day. She has had SUCH a huge turnaround — it is amazing! She is like the Diana we met in the beginning, the one who was so so so so so excited to learn about the Gospel and come to church. We taught her almost every day this week and then she came to church on Sunday. Actually, our lessons are more like HER teaching US. Since she learned everything with me and Sora Gibson before but she still wants to review everything, we give her the topic for the lesson the day before and then she studies from True to the Faith and the Book of Mormon. She comes prepared and tells us what she understands about the topic and then we discuss it further and clarify anything that might be iffy. It is AMAZING to see her transformation. We set a baptismal date with her for the end of February (great way to end the mission, eh?). She is just the happiest and it makes me happy to see her like she was before.

Other highlights from this week:

-meeting with Tatiana: She came to our lesson and pulls out her Book of Mormon. She begins to tell us about how she tried to make time every evening for reading, like we suggested, but then every night she was just too tired. We were a little deflated at that point and sad that she hadn’t kept her commitment. But then she says instead, she woke up EARLY every morning and read! She went on to tell us that she is up to 1 Nephi 20 and absolutely LOVES it. We were so happy to hear that!! She is really progressing and I can see the difference in her from the first time I met her until now. She is so much more open and really excited. She still is hesitant to come to church, but she said she wants to come and she knows that she needs to come. We will be praying hard to know how best to help her over this next hurdle.

-a fun Relief Society activity all about knowing each other better — sharing embarrassing moments, fun facts, “what if” questions and lots more. PLUS we had cookies afterwards, so everyone was happy 🙂

-meeting with Sora Berdeu, Olea, and Tatiana: I love the members here and how loving and open they are. I feel like I’ve made best friends here in these branches and I love watching them all progress in the Gospel. I’m so blessed to be here in this city with these people.

-district dinner on Sunday night: Sora Barrera and I made chicken quesadillas for the whole district and we spent the night exchanging riddles haha. Frustrating for many of us, but still fun. I love this district so much and how fun they are 🙂

I don’t have much more time, but I love you and I am so happy to be here. I miss you and hope you have the best of weeks!

Love,
Sora Amy
